Amphitheatre of Serdica

The Amphitheatre of Serdica was a Roman entertainment venue in Ulpia Serdica, present-day Sofia, Bulgaria. Discovered in 2004 and excavated in 2005-2006, it was constructed in the 3rd-4th century AD atop a 2nd-3rd century theatre destroyed by Gothic invasions. The amphitheatre served the city for less than a century before being abandoned by the 5th century, with its ruins lying beneath two adjacent sites in central Sofia [1][2].
