AfghanistanAi-Khanoum is the archaeological site of a Hellenistic city in Takhar Province, Afghanistan [1]. It served as a major military and economic centre of the Greco-Bactrian Kingdom [1]. The city was destroyed around 145 BC [1]. Rediscovered in 1961, the ruins were excavated from 1965 to 1978 [1] [2].
