Alexandria Arachosia - Old Kandahar

Alexandria Arachosia was a fortress-city founded by Alexander the Great around 330-329 BC on the site of an earlier Achaemenid fortress [1][2]. It was one of over twenty cities established during Alexander's conquests, later becoming a major center during the Indo-Greek, Indo-Parthian, Kushan and Sasanian periods [3]. The ancient settlement's remains are preserved in the tell of Old Kandahar citadel in modern Kandahar, Afghanistan [1].
