Nitovikla

A Bronze Age fortress on the Karpas Peninsula in Cyprus, built with Cyclopean masonry on a hilltop overlooking the coastal plateau. The Swedish Cyprus Expedition excavated the site in 1929, discovering tombs from Middle Cypriot III (1725-1600 BC) and the fortress itself, which was in use until Late Cypriot I (c. 1450 BC). The fortification had a square plan with towers at three corners and flanking the entrance, enclosing a courtyard with a water cistern. It is believed to have been built to protect local inhabitants against sea raids, though the reason for its abandonment remains uncertain.
