Salona

Salona was an ancient city and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, located near modern Split in Croatia.[1] It grew to become one of the largest cities of the late Roman Empire with approximately 60,000 inhabitants.[1] After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, Salona served as the de facto capital from 476 to 480 and was the final residence of Emperor Julius Nepos.[1]
