Vestibule, Split

The Vestibule is a circular entrance hall within Diocletian's Palace in Split, built in the early 4th century AD as the formal passage from the Peristyle courtyard to the emperor's private apartments [1] [2] [3]. Measuring 12 metres in diameter and 17 metres in height, it was once crowned by a dome decorated with colorful mosaics and lined with semicircular niches housing statues [1] [4].
