The Tumlehed Rock Painting is a prehistoric pictograph site on Hisingen island, Gothenburg, Sweden, created between 4200-2500 BC by mobile hunters who traveled by boat to the west coast. It is the southernmost recorded rock painting in Sweden. Using NASA-developed DStretch imaging, University of Gothenburg researchers revealed previously invisible motifs including boats with elk-head stems, the first such depictions documented in southern or western Scandinavia. The red-painted pictographs also depict ships, fish, a deer, and wave patterns, providing evidence of long-distance sea voyages undertaken by Stone Age maritime hunters.
