Ağbulaq Necropolis

A Bronze-Iron Age necropolis in the Shahbuz district of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, discovered accidentally during agricultural work when a tractor destroyed one of the jar graves [1]. Two graves were excavated, revealing large burial jars oriented northwest with stone surrounds. The first jar contained a black single-handled bowl at its mouth and skeletal remains inside [1]. Artifacts recovered include agate and glass beads, bronze pins, rings, and fragments of clay vessels [1]. The jar burial practice is characteristic of Nakhchivan's Late Bronze and Early Iron Age funerary traditions ^[2].
