Vätteryd Grave Field

Vatteryd is an Iron Age cremation burial ground in Hassleholm Municipality, Scania, Sweden, established between 400 and 900 AD. The site contains 183 menhirs, 15 stone ships -- the largest measuring 25 metres long and 8 metres wide -- and 2 stone circles. In the early 19th century, with approximately 600 menhirs still standing, it was considered the largest grave field in Scandinavia. Archaeological surveys from 1955-1957 confirmed cremation burials and yielded bronze jewelry, glass pearls, and metal wires, now housed in Stockholm museums.
