Castle Rings, Wiltshire

Castle Rings is a univallate hill fort in Donhead St Mary parish, Wiltshire, dating to the Iron Age (c. 800 BC - 1st century AD). The site sits at 228 metres (748 ft) elevation on Upper Greensand sandstone and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. While most of the fortification lies within Donhead St Mary, some outlying earthworks extend into the neighbouring parish of Sedgehill and Semley. In the mid-1980s, a metal detectorist discovered a hoard of stater coins within the hill fort.[1]
