Dolmen of Chianca

The Dolmen della Chianca is a Neolithic megalithic tomb near Bisceglie in Puglia, Italy, dating to approximately 4000-3000 BC. Discovered on 6 August 1909 by Francesco Samarelli and Angelo Mosso, with further excavations by Michele Gervasio in 1910, the corridor-type tomb is nearly 10 metres long with a burial chamber 1.80 m high, roofed by a capstone measuring 2.40 x 3.80 m. Excavations uncovered eight human skeletons, pottery, stone knives, obsidian blades, and a bronze falera. In 2011 UNESCO recognized it as a Heritage Witness to a Culture of Peace.
