Megara Hyblaea was an ancient Greek colony of Magna Graecia in Sicily, situated near modern Augusta on the east coast, approximately 20 km north-northwest of Syracuse [1]. The colony occupied a position on the deep bay formed by the Xiphonian promontory [1]. It was one of several Sicilian settlements sharing the name "Hybla," creating historical confusion among ancient sources [1][2].
