Emblance Downs Stone Circles

Emblance Downs Stone Circles are a pair of Bronze Age stone circles on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, in the parish of St Breward. Each circle is approximately 23 metres in diameter and originally contained 18-19 stones; they stand just 3.3 metres apart. The western circle retains 6 earthfast and 4 recumbent stones, while the eastern has 4 earthfast and 4 recumbent. The name derives from 1580 records as 'Emlands,' meaning flat-topped land. A 2017 volunteer clearance project by the Timeseekers greatly improved knowledge of these largely forgotten monuments.
