Hadzhidimitrovo

Late Neolithic pit site located 13 km northwest of Yambol in southeastern Bulgaria, dating to the 6th and early 5th millennia BC. Excavations conducted from 2008 to 2021 revealed a complex of ritual pits containing whole or partial ceramic vessels, cattle skulls and horns, burnt materials, and deliberately fragmented artifacts. The systematic arrangement of pits and recurring placement of semi-inverted vessels suggest the site functioned as a ritual complex rather than a settlement, contributing to the broader understanding of Neolithic and Chalcolithic ceremonial practices in the Balkans.
