Roman City of Deultum - Develtos

Develtos (also Deultum) was a Thracian settlement founded as a Greek emporium in the 7th century BC near modern Debelt, Bulgaria [1]. Located at the mouth of the Sredetska River on Lake Mandrensko, it flourished as a trade center between Thracians and Greeks from the 6th to 4th centuries BC [1]. Under Roman rule, it became a significant city and later a Christian bishopric [1].
