Castell Nadolig

Castell Nadolig ("Christmas Castle") is an Iron Age hillfort in Ceredigion, Wales, about 4 km east of Aberporth. It has two concentric banks, the outer measuring about 230 m in diameter. The fort is famous as the findspot of the Penbryn Spoons -- two ornate cast bronze objects discovered in 1829, dating to c. 50 BC - AD 100, now in the Ashmolean Museum. Only 25 such spoons are known worldwide; they may have been druidic divination tools, with liquid dripped from a perforated spoon onto one divided into quadrants. Geophysical surveys (2019-2021) revealed multiple plough-levelled barrows within and outside the fort.
