The Tumuli Park Belt

The Tumuli Park Belt within the Gyeongju Historic Areas contains three groups of royal burial mounds from the Silla Kingdom (57 BC - 935 AD), designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 [1] [2] [3]. The Daereungwon Tomb Complex includes 23 tumuli, most notably Cheonmachong (Heavenly Horse Tomb) and Hwangnamdaechong, which yielded over 11,000 artifacts including golden crowns, ornaments, and a famous birchbark painting of a winged horse [4] [5] [6]. Visitors can enter the excavated Cheonmachong tomb [4] [7].
