A serial UNESCO World Heritage Site (inscribed 2023) comprising seven archaeological cemetery complexes of the Gaya Confederacy, dating from the 1st to 6th century AD in southern Korea. The seven sites are Daeseong-dong, Marisan, Okjeon, Jisan-dong, Songhak-dong, Yugok-ri and Durak-ri, and Gyo-dong and Songhyeon-dong Tumuli. Burial structures evolved from simple wooden coffins to larger wooden chambers and finally stone chambers. The property attests to the distinctive Gaya political system where affiliated polities existed as autonomous equals while sharing cultural commonalities. Korea's 16th World Heritage listing.
