Tappoch Broch

Tappoch Broch, also known as Torwood Broch, is an Iron Age broch situated atop Tappoch hill in Tor Wood forest near Falkirk, Scotland. One of the rare lowland brochs, it features walls up to 7 m thick with an internal courtyard spanning roughly 10.8 m by 9.8 m. First excavated in 1864 by Colonel Joseph Dundas, who removed some 200 tons of debris, the dig revealed querns, cup-and-ring marked stones, pottery, and steatite artifacts indicating trade connections with northern Scotland. Designated a scheduled monument since 1949, it underwent laser scanning and conservation work in 2014.
