Balnuaran of Clava

A Bronze Age cemetery east of Inverness, Scotland, built around 2000 BC, comprising three large cairns aligned northeast to southwest [1] [2]. The two outer cairns are passage graves and the central one is a ring cairn with unique stone causeways radiating to standing stones [2]. The passages align to the midwinter sunset, and the standing stones are graded in height with the tallest facing the setting sun [1] [2]. The site is the type-site for about 50 similar Clava-type cairns found across the Moray Firth region [1] [2].
