The Linear Cemetery, Kilmartin Glen

A striking alignment of five large burial cairns running 2 km north to south along the floor of Kilmartin Glen in Argyll, Scotland. The cairns span from the Neolithic to Bronze Age periods (c. 3000-1500 BC), with Nether Largie South being the oldest chambered Neolithic cairn, built over 1,000 years before the others. The glen contains one of Britain's most important concentrations of prehistoric monuments, with at least 350 ancient monuments within a six-mile radius. Several cists feature rare axe-head carvings and cup-and-ring marks, indicating high-status burials. The five cairns are Glebe, Nether Largie North, Nether Largie Mid, Nether Largie South, and Ri Cruin.
