Ponte da Cava da Velha

A Roman bridge in Castro Laboreiro, Melgaco, within Portugal's Peneda-Geres National Park. Built in the 1st century AD to connect the Roman road leading to Spain via Portela do Homem, it is considered one of the most beautiful and best-preserved historical bridges in the park. The bridge features an easel deck over two arches of unequal size, with prismatic cutwaters upstream. Roman-era stonework with cushioned staves remains visible in the lower portions, while irregular medieval modifications are evident in the deck and parapets.
