Vitcos

Vitcos (also known as Rosaspata) was a residence for Inca nobles and a ceremonial centre of the Neo-Inca State (1537–1572 AD) [1]. The ruins sit on a ridge overlooking the confluence of two small rivers near the village of Pucyura in Peru's Vilcabamba District, La Convención Province, Cusco Region [1]. The Incas occupied the Vilcabamba region around AD 1450, establishing major centres at Machu Picchu, Choquequirao, Vitcos, and Vilcabamba [1]. Vitcos frequently served as the residence for Neo-Inca rulers until the Spanish conquest of this final Inca stronghold in 1572 AD [1].
