Inka Tampu, Vilcabamba

An archaeological site in Peru's Cusco Region, La Convencion Province, Vilcabamba District, situated atop a mountain also named Inka Tampu [1]. The name means "Inca inn" in Quechua [1]. The Vilcabamba region holds special historical significance as the last refuge of the Neo-Inca state, where Manco Inca and his successors maintained autonomous rule after retreating from the Spanish conquest of Cusco [2] [3].
