Usnu Muqu

Usnu Muqu is an Inca ushnu -- a ceremonial stone platform -- located near Tamburco's main plaza in Apurimac, Peru, at 2,610 m elevation. Built during the 15th-16th centuries, it consists of three superimposed stone platforms reaching 5.3 meters in height over 450 square meters, integrating a natural limestone outcrop exceeding 10 meters. The northwestern face aligns toward Nevado Ampay, suggesting astronomical significance. Excavations yielded Inca ceramics, gold pieces, and spondylus shells, confirming its role as a ritual center where travelers made offerings to Pachamama.
