Millka

Millka is an archaeological site of the Chanka culture in Peru's Ayacucho Region, situated on a mountain peak at 3,500m elevation northeast of Sarhua in Victor Fajardo Province. Dating to the Late Intermediate Period (c. 1200-1470 AD), the site contains over 300 residential structures and extensive agricultural terraces adapted to highland conditions. The name derives from Quechua and Aymara, referring to spaces between furrows in cultivated fields. The Chanka were a confederation of chiefdoms known for expansionist warfare before their conquest by the Inca Empire in the 1440s.
