Muyu Muyu

An archaeological complex in the Apurimac Region, Chincheros Province, Uranmarca District, Peru. The Quechua name means 'complex of circles,' referring to groupings of circular structures. The site features a conical hill with six large terraces on its slope and a staircase accessed through a double-jambed doorway at the base, leading to two distinct outcrops at the summit enclosed by a low wall demarcating a sacred space. Associated with the Chanka people who inhabited the Andes before the rise of the Inca Empire, the circular structures likely served as homes, storage, or ceremonial spaces.
