Kunturmarka, Ayacucho

Kunturmarka (Quechua: kuntur "condor" + marka "village") is an archaeological site in Peru's Ayacucho Region, Huanta Province, Huamanguilla District. The site dates to approximately 1000-1500 AD and lies within a region historically dominated by the Wari and later Inca civilizations. The name reflects the importance of the condor in Andean cosmology and suggests the settlement held cultural significance in the pre-Hispanic highland landscape.
