Aya Muqu

An archaeological site in Peru's Ayacucho Region, Lucanas Province, Chipao District. The name derives from Quechua aya (corpse) and muqu (hill), meaning "corpse hill". The site was declared a National Cultural Heritage of Peru by Resolucion Directoral in 2003. Located in the south-central Peruvian Andes, it lies within the broader archaeological landscape of the Lucanas highlands, a region known for pre-Columbian settlement and agricultural terracing.
