Miculla Petroglyphs

The Miculla Petroglyphs are rock carvings in the San Francisco de Miculla area of Peru, located 8-22 km northeast of Tacna[1]. Carved in low relief on boulder fragments in a desert landscape at approximately 1,200 meters elevation, the petroglyphs depict human figures fighting, dancing, and hunting animals[1]. They are situated along the Palca River near its confluence with the Caplina River[1]. Dating is controversial, with many scholars estimating them to be around 1,500 years old, placing their creation in the early centuries AD[1].
