Mallkuamaya

Mallkuamaya is an archaeological site in the Puno Region of Peru, located approximately 15 km southwest of the city of Puno. The name likely derives from the Aymara words mallku (leader) and amaya (dead body), suggesting a funerary function. The site was declared a National Cultural Heritage (Patrimonio Cultural) of Peru by the National Institute of Culture. It lies in a region rich with pre-Inca chullpa burial towers associated with the Lupaca and Qulla cultures of the Lake Titicaca basin.
