Los Pinchudos

500-1000 AD) Los Pinchudos is an elaborate Chachapoya tomb complex, perched in a high rock cleft in one of Peru's northern Andean cloud forests[1]. Located in Río Abiseo National Park, a natural and cultural World Heritage Site, the site is guarded and closed to all except scientific missions[1]. The clay and stone tombs feature wooden roofs and are painted in red, yellow, black, and white[1]. Anthropomorphic carvings featuring prominent phalluses give the site its name[1].
