Kanamarka

Kanamarka is a pre-Inca archaeological site at 4,050 m elevation in Espinar Province, Cusco, Peru, serving as the capital of the K'ana nation. The site features circular and rectangular stone enclosures, a main temple with trapezoidal windows, large kallancas, and advanced pre-Inca hydraulic channels. The K'ana people peacefully integrated into the Inca Empire, and the site shows both indigenous and later Inca architectural elements. In 2004, the mummy of the 'Senora de K'anamarka' was discovered, revealing elite burial practices with ceramics, precious metals, and evidence of cranial trepanation.
