Machu Pitumarka

Machu Pitumarka is an archaeological site in Peru's Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Pitumarca District, situated at 3,465 m above sea level near the Ausangate snow-capped mountain[1]. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries by the pre-Inca Canchis culture, it was later occupied by the Incas[1]. The site features the Pirca architectural style and consists of three distinct sectors[1]. Located on a hill northeast of Pitumarca, it lies at the southern shore of the Ch'illkamayu river[2].
