Mawk'allaqta, Paruro

Mawk'allaqta (Quechua for "ancient village") is an Inca archaeological complex in the Cusco Region, Paruro Province, at approximately 3,800 m elevation. The site spans over 2 km and features ceremonial temples, water channels, agricultural terraces, and rare triple-jamb doorways indicating sacred status. It is linked to the worship of the creator god Viracocha and the Inca origin myth of Tampu Tocco, the cave from which the Ayar brothers emerged to found the Inca Empire.
