Markansaya

Markansaya (also Hatun Markansaya) is a pre-Inca archaeological site in Peru's Apurimac Region, Cotabambas Province, Haquira District [1] [2]. Situated on a hilltop, it features square and circular funerary towers (chullpas) of about 2.5 metres diameter, built from stone blocks [2] [3]. The settlement displays urban planning with plazas, ceremonial and residential sectors, and a possible political-economic sector [2]. It is considered the most representative archaeological zone of the Haquira district [2].
