Laüs

Laüs was an ancient Greek colony of Magna Graecia founded by Sybaris at the mouth of the Lao River on the Tyrrhenian coast of southern Italy [1][2]. The river marked the boundary between Lucania and Bruttium in ancient times, and both the river and city shared the same name in Ancient Greek [1]. Today, the archaeological site is located east of Marcellina, a frazione of Santa Maria del Cedro in Calabria [3]. Historical sources mention Laüs only briefly, with Herodotus documenting its existence [1].
