Archaeological Site of Kamiros

Kamiros was an ancient Dorian polis on Rhodes' northwest coast, 3 km west of modern Kalavarda [1][2]. One of the three powerful cities of Rhodes alongside Lindos and Ialyssos, it was the smallest but most agriculturally focused [1]. Founded by Dorians, the area shows earlier Mycenaean settlement evidence through discovered cemeteries [1]. Archaeological excavations have uncovered an agora, elaborate private dwellings, and an acropolis with sanctuary, revealing its importance as a flourishing polis [1].
