Minoan Modi

Modi (or Modhi) is a Minoan peak sanctuary located in eastern Crete, Greece, part of a dense cluster of hilltop ritual sites in the Siteia region. Archaeological excavations uncovered clay human and animal figurines, typical votive offerings left by Minoan worshippers. Permanent architecture at Modi appeared no earlier than the Middle Minoan III period, indicating formalization of the sanctuary during later phases of Minoan civilization. Peak sanctuaries like Modi served as elevated ritual sites connecting communities with their deities.
