The archaeological site of ancient Kymissala lies ~70 km southwest of Rhodes city, within the Municipality of Atavyros, covering coastal areas of Monolithos and Sianna. One of Rhodes' most significant countryside archaeological sites, it features extensive visible ruins spanning the Mycenaean period (c. 1500 BC) through Late Antiquity. During the Hellenistic era, the region formed the Demos of Kymissaleis, subordinate to the neighboring city-state of Kameiros.[1]
