Woolsbarrow Hillfort

A slight univallate hillfort on Bloxworth Heath in Dorset, dating to the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age (8th-5th centuries BC). At just 67 metres elevation on a flat-topped gravel knoll, it is the smallest hillfort in southeast Dorset, covering approximately 2.25 acres. The fort features a single rampart set about twenty feet below the hilltop with an original entrance on the southeast side. One of only about 150 slight univallate hillforts nationally, it holds national importance as a scheduled monument despite damage from sand and gravel extraction on its eastern side.
