EnglandLindum Colonia was a Roman legionary fortress founded during Emperor Nero's reign (58-68 AD), which evolved into the settlement now known as Lincoln in Lincolnshire. Roman tombstones indicate the Ninth Legion Hispana initially garrisoned the site before moving to establish York around 71 AD. The Second Legion Adiutrix subsequently occupied Lindum before relocating to Chester in 77-78 AD, establishing the settlement as a key Roman military centre in Britain.[1]
