Teishebaini

Teishebaini (7th century BC) was the capital of the Transcaucasian provinces of the ancient kingdom of Urartu, located near modern Yerevan in Armenia[1]. This massive fortress and governmental centre featured towered and buttressed perimeter walls, massive gates, a central parade ground, and storage rooms that entirely occupied the ground floor[1]. The combined area of the city, palace, and citadel exceeded 0.45 square kilometres[1]. The site is now known as Karmir Blur, meaning "Red Hill"[1].
