Ancient City of Armavir

Ancient Armavir was a major urban center founded, according to Armenian tradition, by King Aramais around 1980 BC. The ruins lie 1 km west of modern Armavir village, with archaeological evidence showing continuous habitation since the 6th millennium BC. Excavations have yielded obsidian instruments, bronze objects, and pottery spanning multiple periods. The city served as a commercial hub and capital of ancient Armenia during the Orontid dynasty [1].
