Roman Villa of Tourega

The Roman Villa of Tourega is located in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Tourega in the Évora District of Alentejo, Portugal [1]. During Roman occupation it was part of the province of Lusitania, situated a few kilometers southwest of Civitas Ebora Liberalitas Julia (modern Évora) [1]. The villa lay next to the Roman road to Salacia and only 5 km from the road to Pax Julia (modern Beja) [1]. Excavations indicate it was in use from the mid-first century CE to the end of the fourth century [1]. At least in the third century, it belonged to a family of senatorial rank [1]. Primarily used for farming, the villa was classified as a Site of Public Interest in 2012 [1].
