Rhodes - City

Rhodes is the principal city on the island of Rhodes in the Dodecanese, Greece, with a population of approximately 56,000 (nearly 90,000 in the metropolitan area) [1]. The city has been famous since antiquity as the site of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World [1]. The citadel of Rhodes, built by the Hospitallers, is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, and the Medieval city is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site [1].
