The fortifications of Rhodes are shaped like a defensive crescent around the medieval town, composed of a massive embankment wall encased in stone. They feature scarp, bastions, moat, counterscarp and glacis. The harbour-facing section includes a crenellated wall, while the moles are lined with towers and defensive forts [1].
