The Great Basilica (Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis) in Plovdiv was constructed in the mid-4th century AD and represents the largest late antique early-Christian church discovered in Bulgaria[1]. It ranks among the largest churches from that period on the Balkans[1]. The building featured a central nave with two side naves, an eastern apse, a narthex (anteroom), and a colonnaded atrium[1]. A marble-decorated presbyterium rose in the central nave[1].
