Lartos, Rhodes

Lartos was an ancient village on the southeast coast of Rhodes [1]. The site is notable for a major marble formation known as lithos lartios, a distinctive gray-blue stone unique to the island [1]. This stone was extensively quarried in antiquity for local construction and was likely used for significant architectural projects [1]. The settlement's proximity to this geological resource made it an important center for stone extraction during the Iron Age and Archaic periods [1].
