The Roman Bridge (Römerbrücke) spans the Moselle in Trier, Germany. Its nine stone pillars date to the 2nd century AD, replacing wooden predecessors from at least 17 BC[1]. It is Germany's oldest standing bridge and the oldest Roman bridge north of the Alps[1]. Roman visitors tossed coins into the river for good luck; experts estimate around one million coins may lie in the riverbed[1]. The superstructure was rebuilt in the early 12th and early 18th centuries[1]. Since 1986, the bridge has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of Trier's Roman monuments[1].
